The Spiritual Connection: Frankincense Essential Oil
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11, KJV

Frankincense trees are highly treasured and guarded by armed men. They must be 40 years old before the resin can be harvested. The bark is stripped away until the resin oozes. This is left to harden. Later, the hardened gum is removed and the tree is injured again. The next gum is more aromatic. Again, the tree is scraped until the liquid gold appears. This time, the result is a highly aromatic gum with many therapeutic properties. This process reminds me of how the Lord uses the trials that come to us to purify our character, making us fit for our heavenly abode.
