Myrtle Essential Oil - a Bible Healing Oil

Myrtle essential oil (Myrtus communis) was anciently used for religious and purification ceremonies, so it is possible that Esther may have used this balancing aromatic during her preparatory time waiting to be shown to the king.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. Isaiah 55:13, KJV

Before the dazzling Esther was selected as a possible candidate to become queen, her name was Hadassah. An interesting note is that the Hebrew name “Hadassah” can be translated as “myrtle”.

Starr 070621-7466 Myrtus communisI have read that one of the uses of myrtle essential oil is to combat suppression of life. That got me to thinking… what is the opposite of suppression? Freedom! Sometimes, our negative emotions block us from accepting God's gift of forgiveness of sin. Once we are able to overcome that mental block, accept the gifts God has freely offered, and ask for Christ's abiding presence, we become free indeed – just as promised!
