Parents are always looking out for their children. They want to make sure their kids’ environment is secure and healthy. When their kids are away from home, parents worry; at home, they work hard to ensure that their surroundings are safe.

It is important that parents learn how children’s physiology and behaviors interact with things like air, food, water, and other factors that they are exposed to on a daily basis. Since children are at greater risk for a range of exposures to harmful substances, more education means better protection.

At crucial periods of development, exposure to dangers in the environment could have serious effects on their lives. Due to their differences in physiology, respiratory rates, levels of exposure, and metabolic processes, the risks that children face are not the same as adults. Because of this, and children’s rapid development and immaturity of body organs, kids potentially face more serious consequences and can be more vulnerable.

A major factor to consider is the personal care products that kids use. There is a recent trend in the personal care market toward products specifically designed for children. The problem is that a lot of those products contain artificial chemicals, perfumes, and dyes.

Included in typical children’s bath gels, shampoos, and hair detanglers are potentially carcinogenic petroleum ingredients that are used in industrial anti-freeze, degreasers, and oven and household cleaners. Other effects from harmful ingredients include dryness, corrosiveness, and irritation to the skin and eyes.

Mainstream products also contain ingredients such as animal fat, animal acid, and butter acid. These contents can be toxic, irritating to the mucous membranes, cause allergic reactions, dermatitis, and skin rashes. They also interfere with the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins and may clog pores and promote acne.

Most products on the market include synthetic colors that are believed to be cancer-causing agents. Other harmful effects include the depletion of calcium in the body, and the weakening of protein and cellular structure.

Young Living Essential Oils offers an alternative to all these potentially dangerous products. KidScents is a complete line of personal care products designed just for kids.
